You would see the SMTP error "Authentication not enabled in the SMTP Internet site document for" on the Domino console not the telnet screen.
If you've missed it, look in the log.nsf in the Miscellaneous Events to double check.
If the error is there then you need to create an SMTP Inbound Site document in the Domino Directory, under Configuration\Messaging\Internet Sites
-Click the "Add Internet Site..." button
-Choose "SMTP Inbound"
-The description can be anything
-Organiszation should be the same as the others, if there are any, otherwise make one up.
-Host names should be the IP address and any DNS names you have for the server.
-Stop the tasks HTTP & SMTP when they have both stopped, restart them again.
